More Information:

Melanie C began working on album two recording wise in October 2001, and finished a lot of material in April 2002.  Details of tracks off the album and other information should be expected to leak out over the next few months, as the build up to the new album gets greater.  She has also re-worked a track which didn't make Northern Star, called Independence Day, which is going to be on the Bend It Like Beckham [film] soundtrack along with a song off fellow Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham.  However, Independence Day is not going to be included on the new album, it was confirmed recently.

Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen was also covered by Melanie and Russell Watson, whom she performed with in May 2001, at a Orchestral Concert.  However, she has confirmed that the track was scrapped as it wasn't good enough, and she wasn't prepared to ruin one of the greatest songs of all time.

Melanie has also recorded another track for the World Cup Album, to celebrate the 2002 World Cup in Japan and Korea.  The song is rumoured to have been recorded with Keith Allan [alias Fat Les], and is also meant to be called 'Who Invented Fish and Chips?' ('Pop it in the Onion Bag').  Little details are known of the song, despite it being scheduled for released on June 3rd.

The album itself is understood to be nearly  finished, and some say that nine tracks are definitely on the album.  However, Melanie recently on GM:TV said that the album won't be out until early next year, when she will be happy with it.  So, obviously, the final track listing is very hard to define when new tracks are being worked on.  She said that she wants to get it right, which we are sure most fans will support.  A single may still be out in Autumn, but whenever it is, we know the Northern Star isn't far away for her return.  The album will come 3 years after Northern Star, which has nearly sold 3 Million Copies worldwide!

Rumoured titles of singles are being released by tabloid critics, whom surprisingly have given previews of tracks a very warm reception.  What a turn around from 2000 and Mel's press back lash!  'Electrifying' and 'Love and Affection' are rumoured titles at the moment, but 'Here It Comes Again' is confirmed, and indeed by Melanie herself in May 2002!  She said that the track had been written with Marius De Vries, who also wrote 'Why?' and produced a few of Mel's tracks from her last album.

More information can be found at www.northern-star.co.uk, where she describes it as one of the best songs she has ever written!  Melanie continues to update her letter section, so it is always worth visiting!

'Track listings' are being released- but tend to be quite ridiculous.  Mel has basically finished recording now, so production will take time, so a real tracklist idea won't be clear until Autumn.

Recently, Mel denied on her official site rumoured titles, like Bite Me as well as denying any rift between Virgin records about her weight, and the media saying she had to delay the album so she could loose weight.  She said we would have to wait a few more months for our first listen... but I'm sure we can wait... or find news leeks!!!

A new single is now planned for January 2003, with the album due out the following month, but some information is beginning to leak out, which is part of the fun of new albums.  We can't wait!  Stay tuned for more Information.
