From the official Spice Girls site: Girl Power Day on 1st July marks the anniversary of the release of Wannabe in 1996. Here's what Melanie C says about it: "Girl Power means different things to different people, but for me, it's just about being strong and confident as a woman. In history, women have taken second place to the boss and the master most of the time, but we're all equal and we're all human, no matter what sex, shape, size, colour or religion we are. Just remember that! Every day of my life is dedicated to Girl Power. It's just an attitude, but 1 July is a great day to be really conscious of it. I might whistle at some builders and have a couple of pints down the pub to celebrate!" Here's what Victoria Beckham says about it:"For me, every day is Girl Power Day, especially being a working mum. David's often away and so I have to be a strong individual and do a lot for myself. "Girl Power is all about doing what you want, being strong in what you believe in and standing up for those beliefs. I'm working all the time at the moment, so on Girl Power Day I might make a special effort to have the evening off, get a babysitter for Brooklyn, ask a few of my friends round and have a bit of a celebration!" Here's what Emma says about it: "Girl Power has always meant a lot to me, even when I was younger and the phrase didn't exist. I'd never want people to think that Girl Power means we hate boys. It's nothing to do with that. It's about everybody standing up for their own rights and doing what they want to do, instead of being afraid to do it, especially women. In the past, women have thought that men could be better than them, but that's not the case. We're all equal and we're standing up for our own rights. On Girl Power Day, I'll probably hang out with my Mum and do something fun. Two Girl Powers are better than one! I've been making a few trips to my local hospital recently, so it would be nice to pop down there. And one thing I really, really want to do is go paint-balling with my brother - and get a few bruises! It would be great if we could organise it for 1 July." There are millions of things you can do to celebrate Girl Power Day, from putting on your biggest shoes and going out with your best mates or popping your boyfriend the big question, to simply just accepting yourself for who and what you are. But what the Spice Girls really, really want you to do on 1st July is tell them if Girl Power has changed your life, and how. Melanie C was on television show CD:UK(UK) on June 23rd and said the following about the latest British girl band "Girl Thing": "I think it's a bit sad that their management and record company have just tried to rip off the Spice Girls. I fear for them because management and record companies are evil." One of the group's singers, Michelle Barber, replied: "We are getting compared to the Spice Girls quite a lot, but at the end of the day we are not them. Yes, we are five girls who have individual personalities, but that's it. The reason is because of equipment problems. Victoria won't be going, but Melanie C will be singing her upcoming single "I Turn To You" at the next Euro 2000 soccer game this Tuesday. Melanie's official site says: England play Romania on Tuesday 20th June and Melanie will be there doing her thing. Her performance of the new single "I Turn to You" will be televised to countless millions all over the world. He blasted the stories that are constantly being put out that the relationship is fake or a publicity stunt. Jason said: "These stories really piss me off. We've been seeing each other for three months and it is completely real. Our relationship is not a PR stunt. I would never do anything like that, what's the point? Mel C is my girlfriend. I can tell you she stayed round at my flat last night, and that wasn't a publicity stunt. We had something to eat and watched TV for most of the night. We're both northern and we both have a great sense of humour. When we're alone, she's not Mel C from the Spice Girls, she's just Melanie. She's on the same level as me. I can talk to her about anything. We are just like an ordinary couple. I know we're in the public eye, but that doesn't matter. We're just J and Mel, and that's it. We go out to eat, have a few beers and do things like that when we get the chance. Unfortunately, we don't get to see each other that often, but we try to get some time together. When we do it's great. We have a laugh. People keep saying it's a scam because we were never photographed together. The reason was because we never went out. But when we did go out publicly for the first time, at Madonna's premiere for her movie The Next Best Thing, people were still going on about it being a stunt. It just fucking pisses me off. Melanie said in a recent Worldpop interview: "I'd love to do a single with Tina. She's got such a powerful voice and I think she'd be an amazing, inspiring person to work with. Here is the message posted there: Not content with just rockin her way around the UK, Melanie is set to blast into Europe as well. She kicks off with a gig in Poland on Thurs 31st August, takes over the UK in September and moves on to Amsterdam and beyond from Sun 15th October. Please note that tickets are on sale at different times, please contact the local venue for further details. Also, about the Wembley Gig: Due to the massive demand for tickets to see Melanie's solo tour in September there is now an extra date - Wembley Arena !!! This is a fantastic achievement and marks Melanie's ever increasing status as one of pop's brightest burning stars. Set to be her biggest solo gig so far, Melanie will be hitting the capital on Sunday 5th November (it is sure to be a night of fireworks !) Melanie C will be joining Bryan Adams, Moby, Macy Gray, Muse, and Eagle-Eye Cherry at this year's Slane Castle music event (UK) on August 26th. Last year's event drew in 80,000 people. Jason Brown, alleged boyfriend of Sporty Spice Melanie C was on Channel 4's Jo Whiley Show (UK) last night. He tried to explain the rumour laced situation between him and Mel C. J said: "I can't say that I am not seeing Mel and I can't say that I am seeing her. I just want some time for myself. We are really good friends but I have just come out of seeing someone else on and off. I put my hands up and admit I put out a few wrong signals, for a while I steamed in there and it was full-on. But now I've pulled back a little bit, I'm not really ready for anything major yet. It's a bit of a weird situation. It's like we're friends but we keep drifting into different areas." + Melanie C will be getting an award next month (probably for NBTSA single) at the Platinum Europe Music Awards in Brussels. Here is a snippet: Girlfriends: Have your fans ever surprised or shocked you? Mel C: There's quite a few fans actually that we know here in England by name, and when I go around the world I recognize faces. Girlfriends: Are you aware that you wind up in some of the queer rumors that happen in the queer community? The raunchy dancing, pinching your bandmates' butts, the dual interpretation that people make of NBTSA. People go as far as to read the pronouns of your songs and say, "She didn't say *him*, she said *they* or *them*. You set off some people's gaydar. Mel C: That is something that I'm not really aware of. I'm just expressing myself in the only way I know how. I've never used my music to wind anybody up. It's just an expression of me. Girlfriends: In 25 years do you think it's possible that someone who was once a Spice Girl will come out? Mel C: As far as I know all the Spice Girls are straight. Two are married or have been married, with babies, and it's something that we have often talked about because we all are friends. Some members of the band have had certain experiences or whatever..
